I reached across a wide abyss
And Touched God’s hand.
I seemed to hear His Gentle voice
Which bade me stand
And simply trust in Him until
The darkness cleared,
So I could better see that which
I trembling feared.
The night was long, but in His strength
I faced the morn,
And unafraid my soul looked out
While faith was born.
And lo, I met that which I feared
With quiet grace;
For dread was gone, and confidence
Was in its place.
